How does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is individually designed to suit your needs
Receiving the Invisalign treatment is a four-step process. Your Dental Boutique dentist will walk you through each stage of the treatment and make sure you understand what to expect.

Step one: initial consultation

When you visit our dental practice we will discuss the issues you are having with your teeth. We will then assess your oral health and determine the best treatment for you.

If, after assessment, it is determined that Invisalign is an appropriate treatment for your teeth a treatment plan will be created. Your Dental Boutique dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send those off to the Invisalign lab where your aligners will be fabricated.

Step 2: treatment plan

Once the impressions are taken they will be digitised so we can review a 3D image of your teeth using the ClinCheck software. This software will then be used to map your treatment and we will refer back to it through your treatment.

The advantage of this treatment is that it will allow you to see predicted result before treatment, during and after —before you even start treatment. This is a great thing for patients as it allows you to see what your smile should look like once treatment is completed.

Step 3: bespoke aligners

Once you and your Dental Boutique dentist have agreed on the treatment plan, custom-made aligners are fabricated for you by the Invisalign lab. Each set of aligners need to be worn for 2 weeks and then you’ll switch to the next set.

While each patient’s teeth are different the typical course of treatment includes between 18 and 36 sets of aligners. This takes approximately 9 to 18 months, however it does depend on factors such as: your individual case and your compliance.

Step four: treatment process

In order to get the best results out of your Invisalign treatment you should wear your aligners day and night. The only time you should remove them is to eat, or brush and floss your teeth.

Check-ups are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks in order to monitor your progress and provide you with your next set of aligners. Each set of aligners will move your teeth gradually and at the end of treatment, you’ll have a straighter healthier-looking smile.
